FORGE WORLD FRIDAY: SOLAR AUXILIA LASRIFLE SECTION
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/SOLAR_AUXILIA_LASRIFLE_SECTION.html
Ladies and gentlemen, the Solar Auxilia have arrived. Now it’s time to do what happened with Space Marine Legions and upscale Mankind’s greatest army. The fact that this kit comes with 20 models seems to indicate that. Except more boots on the ground, with much bigger tanks and much fancier guns.
Now, on to the models themselves. I really like these so far. The Solar Auxilia really sell the pre-heresy feel of the Imperium, particularly with the old steel armor. These guys fall somewhere between rank-and-file guardsmen and storm troopers in terms of gear, but well surpass both in experience. Not to mention that they look like spacemen in iron masks and I love it. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the army turns out. I want more old-style tanks.

Where there are wolves, there are ravens. Ravens follow wolves around a lot, mostly because they just seem to like them. They aren’t known to follow other predators and they prefer to eat with the wolves instead of alone. Source

:)

And thus my desire for a Space Wolves list with Raven Guard allies is justified.

So I reached 500 followers at the beginning of the week

Is that good for a Warhammer blog? Should I do something neat to celebrate?

FORGE WORLD FRIDAY: TAU XV109 Y’VAHRA BATTLESUIThttp://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/TAU_XV109_YVAHRA_BATTLESUIT.html
Well this is an interesting piece. By which I mean “interesting.” It’s a Riptide that’s been repurposed as a fast shock, err, battlesuit. While I love the design, its existence just seems very confused. Tau may not be the fastest army, but they excel at range. What’s the point of an expensive close range unit when your long range units already have great anti-personnel and anti-light vehicle weapons? Maybe this thing has some niche that I’m glancing over but it runs so counter to the standard Tau playstyle that it makes my brain hurt.

FORGE WORLD FRIDAY: CERASTUS KNIGHT ACHERONhttp://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/CERASTUS_KNIGHT_ACHERON.html
I really don’t feel like talking about this one. I’m not really a fan of the Cerastus Knight pattern (the Lancer was close, but the skeleton shield ruined it). This Knight model seems to be a fast generalist super-heavy, with a giant flamer for troops and a giant saw for vehicles. Also a Heavy Bolter because Imperial Knights. I’ll try harder next week but I just don’t understand what this model exists for.

FORGE WORLD FRIDAY: QUESTORIS KNIGHT MAGAERAhttp://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/QUESTORIS_KNIGHT_MAGAERA.html
Because normal Knight Titans weren’t Mechanicus enough, and that’s heresy. Rather than a bigger new Knight with a new look, we get the basic model improved with a hand-full of new weapons. The main addition is the new lightning cannon designed for frying large blobs of MEQs. The other being a death claw designed for destroying buildings, with a rad cleanser for wearing down tougher units. If I had the money I’d love to own one of these. My only worry is that this kit seems to be an upgrade kit to the Knight model, though the bits picture on the website and the “complete resin and plastic kit” tag in the description seem to conflict with each other.
